BEWARE OF PROPAGANDA AND POLITICIANS WITHOUT INTEGRITY. | SDP CANDIDATE JOHNSON

The SDP candidate for Reps in Ibadan Northwest Southwest Constituency of Oyo State, Hon Adeniyi Rotimi Johnson aka Ojasope has given his constituents heads-up that they should beware of unscrupulous politicians who have become very desperate and would go to any length to deceive the electorates for electoral harvests.

In a statement personally signed by him, the former Special Adviser on Media to Senator Kola Balogun reiterated that; we have gotten to the critical moments that the dirty politicians will not stop at anything to deceive the public into voting for them, though their previous evil machinations failed. They will lie and fabricate scenerios to justify their evil machinations because they lack integrity and are not in the race because they want to truly serve the people. They can hack or clone social media accounts, they can impersonate or create panic to achieve their dastardly objectives.

Please, let's remain resolute in our determination to vote according to our conscience by voting for SDP on Saturday, 25th February and it would count for me. Remember, I am here to serve you in truth, please SEND ME to the Federal House of Representatives on Saturday 25th of February, 2023, which also happens to be my birthday. Thank you.

Signed

Adeniyi Rotimi Johnson aka Ojasope

MY GOOD SHALL BE BETTER THAN MY PREDECESSORS' BEST. | SDP CANDIDATE JOHNSON

Excerpt from Hon Ojasope's interview Comrade Dare Adekambi of Nigerian Tribune.

What is driving your aspiration to represent Ibadan North West/South West Federal Constituency?

Ans: My aspiration for Reps is driven by the motivation for true servant leadership and do things differently because our people keep complaining that the major problem in Nigeria is leadership, so I believe I have adequately prepared myself to be the solution to this problem, particularly in the capacity as Federal Reps.

What plans do you have to make things better in the constituency?

Ans: I have plans to do things differently; I will do most things they have done but in different and more pragmatic ways so that our people can feel the true impacts of dividends of democracy. The implementations of empowerment programs, execution of projects facilitated and regular feedbacks through Constituency stakeholders' meeting twice a year would set me apart from my predecessors. These things look simple but they would go a long way to make difference in perception they have of their Federal Representative.

What feedback are you getting from your campaign trips to various places in the constituency?

Ans: The major feedback is that majority of Nigerians are becoming despondent and fed up of both PDP and APC, which they describe as bird of same feather. Then generally, our people are weary of politicians and the enlightened ones are often hostile to me in the beginning but after civil engagements, they turn new leaves and show me their supports. In general, I am very satisfied with the feedbacks from my campaign but I have been challenged and even more determined to make my "Good"  be far better than the best of my predecessors.

What challenges do you think you have based on what you have seen on the field?

Ans: The basic challenges from the field is voter's education. I have to integrate voter's education into my campaign speeches. Education about the BVAS technology, orientation on why they must not sell their votes and what difference it makes if they vote according to their conscience. The results have been encouraging and I pray I become the primary beneficiary of my efforts on voter's education and reorientation.

Are you confident INEC is going to do a good job in conducting credible elections?

Ans: I am very persuaded that INEC already doing a very good job and I can perceive things will go well on the election day. So far so good, INEC is doing very well and I pray God perfects everything and we have large turn out for the elections this year.

Your party's presidential candidate appears unpopular among the people of the state. Do you see this as a setback?

Ans: I don't agree my Presidential candidate is unpopular in my Constituency but I know we still have work to do on selling him as best alternative to the known gladiators with serious moral burdens. Also, I use my popularity in my Constituency to sell my Presidential Candidate because our election is same day. This cannot affect my election negatively because my Constituency is predominantly of educated and enlightened electorates, majority of whom can differentiate between the ballot papers on the election day. That's the major reason I inculcated reorientation and voter's education into my campaign. I am not contesting against persons but against patterns;  of vote buying and bandwagon effects. So, my Presidential candidate has no effect on my electoral victory because it has been factored into my campaign already.

HON ODIDI-OMO LIED, I HAVE NO AGREEMENT WITH HIM. | SDP CANDIDATE JOHNSON.

The SDP candidate for Federal House of Representatives in Ibadan Northwest Southwest Constituency of Oyo State, Hon Adeniyi Rotimi Johnson aka Ojasope has stated categorically that he has no agreement whatsoever with the incumbent Federal Representative, Hon Adedeji Olajide aka Odidi-Omo.

According to the press release by his Media Aide, Hon Ojasope claims it is true that Hon Odidi-Omo has spoken with him 3 different times on the matter since November 2022 but I have been emphatic on those occasions too that I cannot work for him or any other candidate; I am in the race to win the election, not to negotiate. I have evidences of our conversations.

In Hon Ojasope's words; "I have received calls and messages from my followers and friends claiming Odidi-Omo claims I have agreement with him because of a purported court case and I believe their reports because the last time he spoke with me (few days ago), he asked if I have not forgotten our agreement and I corrected him immediately that we have no agreement whatsoever, then he corrected himself that he meant what he discussed with me. That was not a mistake, it was a mischievous play with words and as a public affairs analyst, that was too cheap for me to fall into. Going that low only shows he has no confidence in winning the election clear and square and suggests he is bereaved of integrity. I believe very strongly that he has not represented us well and to think of my stepping down for him is a figment of his imagination.

Hon Ojasope pleads with the general electorates and the great people of his constituency to ignore unfounded comments and any statement that doesn't come through the right channels. Hon Adeniyi Rotimi Johnson is the SDP Candidate for Reps in Ibadan Northwest Southwest Constituency, he can never stepdown for any other candidate and he is in the race to win the election on his birthday, Saturday the 25th of February, 2023.

MUSING ON THE CURRENT NAIRA SCARCITY IN NIGERIA || HON OJASOPE

Immediately the redesigning of the Naira was announced, I posted online that this will cause great hardship, not because of the policy itself but the implementation and the usual "Naija factor". However, the attendant reactions and eventual violent protests confirm my assertion that our rulers don't know Nigerians well enough and they have big deficit in emotional intelligence.

The causes of the present problems are not farfetched as far as I am concerned and I believe the CBN should have deployed intelligence first before implementation, not after the crisis started.

1. HOW MANY ATMs DISPENSE NEW NOTES BEFORE NAIRA REDESIGN? Pondering on the crisis, we should ask if Banks in Nigeria have been dispensing new notes before now. The answer is NO. So why would there be new notes now that there is a deadline for withdrawal of old designs? All banks have vendors that take the new notes from them and the CBN never found it alarming that money on our ATMs are mutilated and dirty currencies. At the inception of ATMs in Nigeria, it was a sure place to get new notes but now, you only get to buy new notes at social gatherings and popular motor parks. The new design only buttered the breads of the Naira vendors and their Bank suppliers.

2. HOW MANY BANK MANAGERS CAN SAY NO TO HIGH PROFILE POLITICIANS IN NIGERIA: It is an obvious fact that redesigning of the Naira was targeted at high profile politicians who have illicit cash in their private vaults but we must not be ignorant of the fact that these same suspects are also the "Platinum" clients of the financial institutions in Nigeria; the bankers covet their favours and many of them live fat on servicing these politicians. So, how would a bank regional manager or even Managing Director say NO to a serving Governor or his godfather when such requests one billion Naira of the New Naira? Governor El Rufai just stated that a particular serving Governor collected 500m cash of the new Naira from a Bank. Imagine if such Governor did that with 3 or 4 banks in a week, where would the cash in the state come from? Off course from the exchanged old Naira. We do not have strong institutions and our compliance with professional ethics in Nigeria is very low; virtually everyone sees official desk as opportunity to make money, not to serve the people or customers. People are always eager to condemn politicians but these politicians are first Nigerians who have become or are "awaiting" opportunists before getting to offices. Our leaders or rulers must know some basics about the behavioral patterns of the people they lead.

3. OUR LEADERS LACK EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE: Your people have been staying from dawn to dusk outside banks for over a week in the scotching Sun, so you don't need a prophet to tell you it would snowball into violent protests if not addressed urgently. When I led my people around Dugbe in my Constituency for flier distribution for my campaign, after getting close to the crowd at one of the ATMs and I saw their countenance, I told my people to avoid people around banks because they are angry, hungry and very frustrated already. Even though we don't belong to the major political parties, I knew the frustration has gotten to aggression point and any slight provocation can lead to violence. Our people are frustrated and very angry; this should have been seen before the violence erupted.

4. ANNOUNCING SUSPENSION OF CAMPAIGNS IS PETTY: Some Governorship candidates are quick to announce the suspension of their campaign after the violence started; that was not a sudden disaster or unanticipated occurrence for God sake; they should have seen it coming and avoid public campaigns for now. If people can't buy fuel and can't withdraw their money from Banks after waiting in the Sun all day, then there is fire on the mountain. The Governor should withdraw his public campaigns without announcements, not telling us in solidarity with people because he is not in office to do solidarities, he is in office to solve problems and be proactive.

5. WITHDRAWING TOO MUCH NAIRA FROM CIRCULATION SHOULDN'T BE SUDDEN IN NIGERIA: Nigerian elites and particularly the political ones are too used to moving about with cash that you wonder if they have bank accounts. In fact, many of them don't want you to know their banks or any clue of the account details, so cash does it. In Nigeria, having so much cash is power and brandishing it in public is synonymous with stardom; so we shouldn't be surprised when the unavailable currencies were humiliated at social parties because the socialites want to show us that what you're labouring to get, they have enough to throw around. That is who Nigerian elites are and we must factor such into our decision making process as leaders.

Finally, it's a Yoruba adage; "declaring that you know the behavioral patterns of your neighbor is not an abuse" and as true Leaders, we must know our people and be very sensitive to the tipping points; we should never assume they have endless elasticity limits. If the present crises are not resolved in the next 72hrs, the consequences might be more than the ruling party and government bargained for. It is always better to prevent public arsons than to curb it after the mob are on rampage.

Rescuing Nigeria from the empire wreckers and the wasters of our collective destiny is a task for all of us, not in prayers only but in actions through determination to play our roles in this month's election. I pray we get it right this time by choosing the best of us to lead the rest of us.

I miss being on my usual public affairs analysis and this is a sure way of letting out my musing.
