OJASOPE IS GRATEFUL TO YOU FOR 2021

I am Adeniyi Rotimi Akinfenwa -Johnson but friends call me Ojasope or Rotisbon, which is function of when they knew me. I am very grateful to God for 2021 and when I count my blessings for this year, I mention you more than once because you're part of the people who made my life interesting and increased my circle of influence.

As a student in the school of Life and leadership, I know finding people who react and comment to your post is a good sign; even the dissenting voices or comments are signs of following. I appreciate you because I am far better now than how I started 2021; I learnt better ways to relate with people, improved in my career pursuit and made more impacts than previous years.
I am grateful to those who did evil and despitefully used me too; they inadvertently pushed me closer to the fulfillment of my destiny. Your likes, re-shares, comments, opinions, smileys, admonitions and prayers are responsible for the little fame I have. Yes, I am what I am by the grace of God but I enjoyed part of the grace through your show of affection, patronage, followership or leadership. I noticed many are worried that the much elevation has not come, I was too but I have inner peace when I knew it was God behind it, not any man or devil; let's not give them the glory for what they are incapable of. Yes, the God that could hang His son on the Cross because of the greater glory, that could take David through 13years after being anointed as King; He's too committed to abandon His project. However, because I love him still, all is well and settled in my favor.

The Public affairs analysis and your continued encouragements through feedbacks have helped me improve on my performance everytime; sticking to my style but beating my previous performance at every opportunity. The different Radio stations that have given me opportunities to air my voice this year, I say a big thank you. Chiefest of them is Fresh FM Nigeria. Radio and television Presenters, thank you. Bloggers and online news magazines, I appreciate the opportunities to do business together. Darling International Services Clients and intending ones, I appreciate your patronage and good intentions; God bless you too. WhatsApp groups and associations engaging me in discussions, thanks for the privilege to rub minds on national issues.

As funny as the secret message website was, I took the lessons and moved on; the fact that people don't say the truth is not enough for you to withhold yours. That's the same for politics; the fact that they play it dirty doesn't mean you should play it clean. Thanks to those who took time to participate. It was a short glimpse into my condolence register while still alive. As a PR Consultant, there can be no better assessment of my personality than anonymous comments, just like condolence register when I am gone and can't interphase with the commentators again.
We trust God for a more eventful, impacting, fruitful, vibrant and prosperous 2022 by the grace of God.

I am purposeful about this appreciation of you, I love you irrevocably and hope for a better relationship and patronage in 2022. However, because I know I made some mistakes and miscalculations in 2021, I want to ask for your forgiveness if I have offended you in any way. I am very sorry.

I wish us a prosperous and more fulfilling 2022; enough space at the top for those who dare to aspire.

Yours sincerely,

Hon Ojasope

NIGERIA AND THE AGONIES FROM PRODIGAL FATHERS. By Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

I have had cause to wonder if these set of leaders are from among us or illegal aliens, disguising as nationals because they are so disconnected from the people and ability to solve crucial problems has evaded them perpetually.

The present crop of leaders are the worst because their campaigns itemized the major problems that have bedeviled us for so long but sadly, their acknowledgments and promises were electoral gimmicks because till now, almost 7yrs into the administration, there is no solution to any of the acknowledged problems. The most provoking of the attitudes of the present administration is reckless and prodigious spending of our collective patrimony. It is so bad that the country is now in unprecedented debts and genocidal inflation rates.

We have heard of the prodigal son and the lessons from the divine parable but the prodigal father is a sad irony with no opportunity for atonement because the leadership misadventures are wiping out the posterity with insecurity, inflation and extrajudicial killings. I have not seen a failed state before but the level of decadence in Nigeria has given an idea of what that is.

The proposed transport palliative by Federal Government due to subsidy removal is the most stupendous idea ever muted by any government in Nigeria; you claim subsidy costs N1.8 Trillion per annum and willing to spend over N2 Trillion on transport palliative, it's just so unreasonable. The ongoing Dangote refinery is costing $19billion and that means government proposes to spend about half the cost of the Dangote refinery on nonsensical transport palliative in a year, rather than build a refinery.

This government is more particular about the disbursement of cash rather than solving crucial problems for reasons best known to most of us. As prodigal fathers, they keep spending our collective patrimony and we can not see a positive turnout at the same rate. The present militarized democracy has been more of a curse and major setback than progress to Nigeria. Worse still, we have leaders whose trade in stock is lying and gross insensitivity; the agitations and aspirations of patriotic Nigerians are criminalized with disregard for the law and norms.

We either deliver ourselves from the prodigal fathers or remain suffering and smiling until the nation goes into extinction.

KOLA BALOGUN; TYPICAL CASE OF "EFIKO SENATOR". By Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

Sometimes ago, I had to refer to a Senator as " Abegi Senator" because his media guys were trying to take credit for the job their Principal didn't do and it was then that it occurred to me that if theirs is Abegi, then mine would be Efiko.

It was the common slang on campus (I don't know if it is still prevalent) to call the serious students "Efiko" and the unserious ones "Abegi Guys". The latter are mostly male students while the former is for both male and female. Abegi describes the place of shelter or lounge on campus for the truants. There are peculiarities of both group of students;
Abegi: they don't attend lectures and the few classes they attend, they are nuisance and distraction to other students. They borrow or steal lecture notes, they use intimidation sometime to accomplish their goals and often have great social life on and off campus.
Efiko: these ones are the studious, responsible and reliable students. They don't only attend lectures, they struggle to sit in the front roles, keep up to date lecture notes, minimal extracurricular activities and often more than average in performance.
Writing about the Efiko nature of Senator Kola Balogun, my former Boss is expedient due to the recent attacks from the followers of the Abegi and would-be Abegi Senators. It is not surprising that they are attacking him; no one attacks inconsequential personality. However, due to the electoral strength of the Oyo South District and the it's strategic significance in Governorship victory in the state, it becomes very understandable that the office will be consistently under attacks, both from within and outside.

If I wrote this before now, some would likely conclude I am justifying my pay but now that I am no longer on his payroll, I can say categorically (like I often boasted); let anyone with better record of performance in Oyo South present the list of such activities. I do not know of a Senator that is so dedicated to the task of legislature and constituency services. He is punctual at plenary and committee assignments. His midterm scorecard is an attestation to his "Efiko" nature because he works like a German Machine.

Reading about allegations of non-performance confirms the Abegi nature of the writers and their sponsors because if they are not intellectually lazy, they would have searched for Senator Balogun's performance first. So, they are either bereft of ideas or lack integrity to have denied something so glaring. In either case, they don't deserve any mandate, not even councilorship because they can not give what they don't have.

I must reiterate the diligence and forthrightness of the only serving PDP Senator in Oyo State because he is not just a PhD holder in Political Science, he has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubts that he understands his job description and up to the task of meeting the expectations of his constituents in terms of dividends of democracy.

To crown it all, Mr Audacity of Grace has stated severally that his mandate is service to humanity and by extension service to God. To me, that's not a religious statement, it is borne out of conviction that posterity shall judge him well. With what I have seen and heard, I know if we have more of Senator Kola Baloguns in the national assembly, then our Country in on path of greatness.
Kola Balogun, a Senator that dare stood by his people when the issue of Amotekun became a controversy in the national assembly. A Senator that openly condemned killing of people anywhere in Nigeria, spoke boldly in support of restructuring, openly condemned and rose to defend the traders whose shops were raided by men of the Custom Service, raised bills and motions for the better life of his people, lobbying and relating well to produce results for his constituents by all means. Even on his 65th birthday, he was away on a committee assignment and we couldn't pull any surprise or photo OPs with him. So, when else they tell you he is not performing, know those who can't recognize performance can't give performance.

So, as a Constituent and member of PDP Media team, I challenge anyone to come forward with any record of performance by any of the predecessors that can beat Senator Kola Balogun's midterm scorecard.

RE-RESIGNATION: SEN. KOLA BALOGUN BEYOND PARTISANSHIP. By Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

I have been greatly inundated with calls and messages in the few hours and though it was not new, being the subject matter in need of clarification was quite different and unexpected. My resignation was not designed to be media issue but I take full responsibility for the slip and I have apologized to Distinguished Senator Kola Balogun for any embarrassment that might have caused.

I need to set the record straight that Senator Kola Balogun is still the best thing that can happen to Oyo South District in this political dispensation. I have written many wonderful things about Senator Kola Balogun and my opinion of him has not and cannot change just like that. Beyond partisanship, he is one politician I would love to remain close to but the decision to quit his political fold now is beyond me, despite my strong love for him, his family and Prince Adeniran Adeyoju. There is no better time to do that than now, before it would cause too much political assumptions and unnecessary speculations. It would always remain in my memory how he insisted I remain with him until whenever I get appointed at the State since I expressed interest to remain with Omi Tuntun fold. To me, that was a gesture I can't forget because that was not a political decision but a leadership one.

Politics is very interesting and delicate, so I was not surprised that some people are swift in catching on the slip. However as a politician, the wish of what is left of my followers and desires of my well wishers is that I seek better political relevance which some people in that fold have sworn and are working assiduously to destroy; not withstanding my dedication and sacrifices they believe I don't belong to that fold.

I have served this great man to the best of my ability and I must confess that he is such a great political product anyone would enjoy marketing. Serving him this 3yrs have taught me many things and I am grateful for that. I am very grateful to Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde who brought me into the fold after very strong recommendations and President of Providence Coalition, Prince Adeniran Adeyoju who never waivered in his confidence in my abilities.

On my part and as it was clearly stated in my resignation letter; "I am still submissive to your leadership and I assure you of my commitment to this great vision of service to God through humanity". I hope my successor takes the organization to higher level and I assure him/her of my cooperation if such so desires.

Signed.

FAITHFUL BUT PERSECUTED; EXCLUSIVE FOR PUBLIC FIGURES. By Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

A public figure can be politician, clergyman, music or drama artistes or even sport icon. Whatever you do or whoever you are, once you're famous and live in the consciousness of people recognizing your face or name, then you're a public figure by my description. By this description, when you're demoted or promoted, the information gets to the public sphere, whether you like it or not. Today is not about promotion, it is about the unpleasant bus-stops on the road to your appointed destination. Please note: though persecution can happen to anyone, being public figure makes what others suffer LOOK more (not necessarily bigger) magnified than in actual sense.

About 4 weeks ago after Sunday service, an elderly woman I loved and respect so much (from afar) walked up to me by my car; I was prepared for the pleasantries and exchange of compliments but was surprised when she stayed for conversation. Standing beside the car, I was under her exhortation for about 10minutes. Wao! Attempting to be active in the conversation, my voice betrayed me and started shaking, so I kept quiet and just said "Amen and Yes ma'am" where appropriate in the conversation. That was an humbling and impacting experience for me. She came with a message from the throne of grace and emphasized that they are many in the congregation that are waiting for the "manifestations of the Man". That encounter got me thinking and meditating, so I ended up sermonizing my life through the example of King David; I owe no one apology for this.

The study of leadership example of David which I did after I outsmarted my friend, Prof Jerry Orhue to buy the only copy of the book we found in an Abakaliki bookstore in 1997 readily came to mind; I was enlightened and got insights into challenges of wilderness experience of leaders. However, I want to relate it to the public sphere and how many suffer for an explainable reason. Yes, the reasons are beyond comprehension.

ANOINTED, FAITHFUL AND DELIVERING: Let me not go into the background of David and how the last son was left in the wilderness with the lions and bears, keeping the flocks. Where he was, the anointing and grace found him; anointed for the Palace and it was natural to have great expectations because of the spiritual integrity of the Prophet and infallibility of the God he served. It was an unquestionable anointing. David in this anointing killed Goliath and it was a great deliverance to the whole nation. David also was useful in the same anointing to personally deliver the King.  The whole city knew of David's exploits, the women sang the praises of the handsome, young and faithful warrior; he suddenly rose from obscurity to stardom, public figure extraordinaire. In the modern day, David started trending on the various social media with millions of followers. His face became famous and his name household in the nation and the enemy nations too. Mr. David Jesse never failed in any assignment given him; became the King's Son-in-law, plays instrument in the Palace, started eating at the king's table, things his older brothers and father never had. Mr. David Jesse was very great and hope of the throne became brighter; please imagine the selfie from the Palace studio and the dining room. In the street/social media parlance; David Jesse has exploded big time.

CONTRARY TO EXPECTATIONS: So why would the King want to kill David Jesse, the boy that killed the Goliath, that played instrument for the King and also the King's Son-in-law? Any of the three links to the Palace was enough to make anyone but was not the case for David Jesse. Please remember that David has become very famous and trending on the social media. Gbam! Contrary to the expected projections of accessing the throne, David became a fugitive and fled to the wilderness; he became any outlaw and outcast, had to flee to a place of no mobile network, no power supplies, no good food or comfortable accomodations; the fame disappeared suddenly and the celebrity became a fugitive. It was in the time when the words of the King was the law and no one dared controverted the words or wishes of the King. That was a terrible thing for David to bear; I guess he would have wondered why he was anointed at all, why he was not just left in his wilderness with the flocks. Yes, that's the point you hate your fame, the public sympathy or the jeering from the enemies. Trust me, it is a terrible thing for a public figure to become an object of pity or pathetic controversy.

LESSONS IN THE PERSECUTION: One of the scriptures I hold dearly is  Isaiah 48:10 that talks about the furnace of affliction. My understanding of Geology made me have understanding of the furnace refinery. It happened to Joseph, David Jesse and it happened to Modecai; their remembrance only came at the appointed time because they learnt their lessons rather than fight back. For all the examples, their persecutors were humiliated and they were greatly exalted. The lesson is that don't try to help yourself, submit totally to the Almighty God and allow him alone to hasten your exaltation. The great news about David's case is that when he had the opportunity to eliminate his persecutor and graduate overnight from the wilderness to the throne, he only cut the helm of King's garment as proof of the opportunity to help himself. David could killed the King and be enthroned because he was anointed but he chose to wait. Hmmmm! Yes, he spared the anointed of the Lord because he had learned his lessons. Modecai saved the life of the King from a Palace coup but neither appeared before the King nor was appreciated until appointed time. Joseph had a vision of rulership but never knew the pit, slavery and prisons were the necessary pathways to the Palace. You worked for his election? Yes, you don't have to bring him down to score any point. You nominated him for promotion and you're the first person he fired, God sees it and working out for your favor. Just keep loving God and be rest assured that God can and will work it work out for your good. Eventually, the years of persecution of Job didn't matter because he had more than double for his troubles.

DONT FOLLOW LINES OF LEAST RESISTANCE: If Hillary Clinton had attack Bill Clinton when she had the opportunity, she would not have been Secretary of State and Presidential Candidate. Instead she stood up and covered his shame. What we do in such defining moments have a way of pushing us eventually into our destiny or derailing us entirely. President Goodluck Jonathan suffered adversely during Yar'Adua's reign but he remained loyal and gentle and he got to his throne without election (battles). Sometimes it is stupid and the least resistance is throwing in the towel like Job's wife advised him or kill the King like David's armour bearer counseled but the glory attainable from waiting on the Lord surpasses self-help.
People sometimes wonder at my stupidity as it is unpolitical to "wait" and I must confess that it's painful and very bitter to experience something contrary to expectations. Yes, we are human but the Almighty God supretends in the affairs of men; the same way a king that never knew Joseph came to Egypt, a King shall arise that will remember you like Mephibosheth was remembered and brought from lameness and obscurity to stardom. Forget the entitlement mentality, keep developing capacity for greatness and forgive those who despitefully use you. David knew from what he suffered how to reward and compensate his people and when the opportunity came, he exercised it magnanimously.

NEW LEKAN SALAMI STADIUM IS REBIRTHING PACESETTER STATE. | Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

I love the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo more as I get older; understanding true leadership and how impoverished we have been as a Nation.  Many decades after his exit, I still believe strongly he was still the most proactive and pragmatic leader Nigeria ever had. However, he raised disciples; the pretenders and proclaimers. The Proclaimers were the true proteges who continued in his ideologies and welfarism. The pretenders are those who follow the "outward adornments" only, like the Bible would describe such; they benefit immensely from professing themselves to be Awoists but they have no fruits to show for it, other than the appearance, particularly the cap.

The New Lekan Salami Stadium (Adamasingba) has set a new pace in Nigeria, despite the leadership and economic recession. Nevermind the haters and scorners, they were many when Pa Awolowo was building Liberty Stadium, University of Ibadan, Cocoa Complex and many other innovative structures that have stood the test of time and proven to be relevant till today.

LEADERSHIP IS PRACTICE: Engr Seyi Makinde has made it a pattern of having the vision written and well spelt out; in 2015, we hard the HEAPS, in 2019, the Road map to the accelerated development of Oyo State. Without mincing words, he has demonstrated that the vision for his administration are not mere sloganeering but blueprint that must be followed. Oyo state is blessed to have someone who has a well thought-out plan to revive the visions of our forefathers and rejig the pride of the nation. Most first and best of Nigeria are in the Old Oyo State and best of welfare policies too started here.

The Obafemi Awolowo Stadium was opened in 1960 and named Liberty Stadium to commemorate the Independence of Nigeria in same year. Chief Obafemi Awolowo conceived and started the construction of the stadium before 1960, in order to be available for opening; 61years after, it's still a major sport facility in Nigeria with many youths settling in it's environment for the benefits of maximizing their sporting potentials till now. If the 25,000 stadium capacity with then international standard could manifest in 1960, then those condemning the remodelling of Adamasingba Stadium are only myopic and retrogressive. Although, one can imagine what Pa Awolowo would have suffered from critics then, the same way he suffered but not deterred, Engr Seyi Makinde has demonstrated springy determination.

WHY NOT A NEW SITE? I have had causes to defend the remodelling of Adamasingba Stadium on live interviews and opposition would throw banters on why reconstruction is so expensive. Well, we must salute Governor Seyi Makinde for not chasing vainglory by seeking new site for the construction of International standard stadium; yes, that would have been a lot easier but it would have changed the ancient landmark, bring in more intriguing town planning and would not make same economic impacts like having such stadium in the Ibadan main Business district. Governor Seyi Makinde has already made it a style to stick to laudable projects irrespective of who or which party conceived it. This is commendable and worthy of emulation by our political leaders in Nigeria.

ECONOMY BENEFITS: The major opposition in Oyo State is founded on propaganda; they twist the facts or give half truth with the aim of deceiving the ignorant. However, the ruling party must not be tired of stating the facts because we owe the people the enlightenment. The New Lekan Salami Stadium will attract multinationals for sponsorship of sporting events in the facility because it meets international standard. It will be a good place for sport-tourism because it's first of it's kind here and can favourable compete with those in better climes. Just like Obafemi Awolowo Stadium attracted the first ever world boxing tournament in Africa on August 10, 1963, the new Lekan Salami Stadium will bring Oyo State back to the map of world sporting events. This is good news to business people in Ibadan because the large convergence of spectators and participants will boost their productivities and also revenue to the State Government. We must understand this is a long term investment and part of the infrastructure developments that would bring investors in relevant sectors to Oyo State.

Politics aside, we must commend what is good and condemn what is despicable; the remodelled Adamasingba Stadium is a pride to Oyo State and we must all celebrate it accordingly. SCORNING CAN'T MAKE HONEY TASTE BITTER

Finally, as the reopening of the stadium takes place today, I am happy to congratulate the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, the great people of the State, sports lovers and workers because Pacesetter State is gradually stepping out of past glory to start reliving the new glory and pride of the true Pacesetter State in Nigeria.

This landmark project reopening is truly rebirthing the Pacesetter State and getting us all the deserved respect and recognition as the State of great economy, infrastructural and policy inventions in Nigeria.

The good people of Oyo South District, by extension Oyo State will remain grateful to his Excellency and Air Peace for easing the burden of flights to and from Ibadan". Senator Kola Balogun stated.

With the commencement of this Air Peace flight, connecting Ibadan from other part of the country will become very easy as Air Peace has brought down the fares, operates Ibadan- Port-Harcourt and Ibadan - Enugu routes too. Senator Balogun appreciates the Olubadan of Ibadanland, all Oyo State Government officials, the Airport Manager and other dignitaries at the occasion.

PHYSICAL FITNESS AND LEADERSHIP PERSPECTIVE. By Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

I recently announced my membership of a fitness Gym and most of my friends started teasing me; wondering what necessitated this at my age and season; yes I got diverse reactions. Though I tried to catch fun from both the membership and announcement but analysing the comments on the social media platforms, I concluded I need to do this write-up.

As a public Relations Practitioner with strong inclination for politics, I will make the following assertions but not as a fitness Coach or Physical Educationist (not as a professional). I played good football in my youthful days and I enjoyed playing so much where we can make jest of one another on the pitch; so you know I never played professional football. However, as I get older and more busy, I dropped footballing and other sporting exercises gradually. It got worse after I passed 45yrs, as the routine dropped to sit-up exercises two or three times a week, you can bet that was not enough to keep me fit. I have discovered that people's compliments are not always sincere, particularly when it comes to weight because they don't want to hurt us. "You're okay" is not enough, if you are feeling heavy and your reflexes are becoming slow, please hit the Gym.

In my undergraduate days, I read many books and one of such is The Total Man by Dan Benson. That book and others I read on leadership made me come up with the quotation; "There is more to manhood than the evidence between the thighs" in 1995. There is more to being a man than just being a male gender. Yes, I realized I have to conquer myself and train my mind, so I watched my size and what I fed my mind so much as a Youth. I went to the gym because my walkout routine of average of 6000 steps per day doesn't seem enough to maintain my shape and I need the Gym so that I can monitor my BMI (body mass index) too. So, I challenged myself and posted online to make my people challenge me more without knowing; their jesting and doubts would help me greatly.

Many books revealed how crucial body fitness is in the routine of American Presidents and their movies too suggest same. Fortunately or otherwise, most leadership books portray some American Presidents as the ideal leaders. Furthermore, my Physician friends and other health books also emphasize the importance of physical fitness to great leadership. So my Doki friends, like I love to tease them always keep me on my toes about physical fitness.

SOUNDNESS OF THE MIND: Though most politicians in our clime take pride in potbelly and big sizes but the truth is that we harm ourselves when we overshoot our BMI. Politicians make great decisions, eat  at awkward times, rarely take enough sleep and often eat junks; these are recipes for sudden death. People often say politicians are not doing anything in Nigeria but I beg to defer, they do a lot but might not just be in public interest. These lifestyles have great health implications in the long run and many begin to nurse one terminal disease or the other (it has nothing to do with curses from the populace). So, as human beings with tight schedules, they settle for medications only, even when physical exercises are part of the prescriptions. The mental alertness needed in making decisions also require great fitness. I was shocked as undergraduate to discover you need physical stamina to be able to pray or study for long too. The mental demands are great and they require fitness for the ability not to wean too soon. When great leaders visit the Basketball court (Obama) or go to Camp David, it's not out of idleness, it is for mental and physical rejuvenation. Just very few of our political leaders factor exercises into their routines; it portrays discipline and rising up to the demands of the office, not mere pleasure. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo still keep his Squash sessions and I guess that's partly responsible for his alertness and agility at over 80yrs.

THE PUMPING OF THE HEART: According to my Physician friends, as we get older and bigger, the demands on the heart to pump blood to all areas of the body becomes bigger. The heart begins to get weaker and the rate of the pumping reduce gradually. Regular exercises help the heart to return to its optimum pumping level irrespective of advances in age. You make it best when your BMI is also okay. Those with weak hearts are prone to different diseases as they advance more in age. However, appropriate exercises (combined) with medications can help regularize the body functions and put the body in vantage position for rejuvenation and fight any onslaught.

GENERAL STAMINA: My experience from footballing taught me the hard lesson; though the skills are still there but when I attempted to play like my youthful days, my heart almost pump out of my mouth in 15min. I was seriously panting for breathe and couldn't continue the game again. That was even about 12yrs ago. My kneels ached terribly and my body protested vehemently. My science background taught me my stamina was completely down. Since then, I don't play ball without a week notice, so I can do some fitness exercises and prepare my body for the game. If you have not had any exercises for long or you are treating any disease, it is better to participate in outdoor games only after your physician's advice.

FOR THE MARRIED COUPLES: I have had cause to tease my friends about this issue but I write it with cautious conviction. Many homes suffer because the women run away from sex as if it's TOO DEMANDING. Some men even say the women complain of the wahala in suggests when the man makes advances. Hmmmmm! Going by the routine of the responsible wives, their stamina drop so fast and it also reflects in the responses to sex. Mentally and physically, sincerely sex becomes a great burden to many of them but fitness exercises can also rejuvenate their sex lives. Most couples only think of Gym when they are going out of shape or lack of affirmations from their spouses  but it should not be limited to that. One way of maintaining your youthfulness is fitness exercises; it helps to build your stamina, maintain your frame and off course, maintain your size too. The fear of your spouse running after  younger ones will not be there because in your case, age is just a figure; when you're as fit as you have always being. However when you wear out faster than normal, you will begin to see it as burden, not fun, then there's fire on the mountain. There is THE TOTAL WOMAN book for the women too but don't ask me if I have read that too.

THE PANDEMIC: During the pandemic total lockdown, many people took to walkout but it was majorly because of the increase in size, not really for fitness. The heart is the major target of the Covid 19 virus and that was why people get more susceptible to infection with age because of weakness of the heart. I read that part of the therapy at the isolation center for those not on oxygen is light exercises. This is the reason why most natural remedies against Covid 19 are those which boost the performance of the heart. So as we follow Covid 19 protocols, we must also ensure we stay physically fit because of our hearts. I know the world might not return FULLY to its initial activities because physical job schedules have reduced considerably and that also calls for more exercises by the executives.
Finally, the Bible says; "For bodily exercise profits a little" (1 Tim 4:8) but that little I always add that little might determine how much you enjoy the fruits of your godly exercises. Pastor E. A Adeboye  and Rev Paul Jinadu spend regular time walking for hours just to keep fit physically, mentally and spiritually. So, when a younger friend at the Gym complained beside me that we don't need all these "stress" to make heaven, I responded by telling him we need them in order not to go too early (suddenly). You may laugh me to scorn but watch out for my "6 packs", though I won't come and flex my muscles before you to prove any point, I know I will be better for it. In your case, whether one pack or no pack at all, do your best to stay physically fit, you will thank me later. Together, we can help one another to stay healthy and catch funs while doing same.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE: Permit me to conveniently quote myself: "There is more to manhood than the evidence between the thighs'. Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope.

DEJI OLA; CASE STUDY OF ATTITUDE WHILE WAITING. By Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

The news of the appointment of Deji Ola caught many of us unaware, not because he doesn't deserve it or might not be pressing for an appointment, but came suddenly and from unexpected quarters. That really got me thinking about few of the motivational books I have read about patience and waiting on God or thriving to accomplish purpose.

One thing that I found very interesting about this young man is his self motivation and how often he comes up with ideas about community services despite the 2019 election reward deficit. He kept spending and spreading his tentacles rather than get discouraged and withdrawal to despondency.

Attitude you put forth while you wait is what determines patience, not time spent in waiting and that's what differentiates many people that claim they are waiting, whether on God or Man. Deji Ola has demonstrated diligence and focus towards what he wanted and I hope many of his colleagues would learn from this virtue he portraits.

Finally, I must congratulate Deji Ola and the Friends of Deji Ola team on this great feat of being appointed Personal Assistant -Political to the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor. I pray the same grace that kept him going for over 24 months will be sufficient for him not to derail in this noble path of greatness. I thank our Indefatigable and taciturn Chief of Staff for looking inward and making many people happy with just one appointment that now looks like a masterstroke.

Congratulations Comrade Deji Ola.

SENATOR BALOGUN @ 65YEARS; GRACE PROGRESSION OF A PUBLIC COACH

Senator Mohammed Ademola Kola Balogun was born on Friday 27th July, 1956 to the Aliiwo ruling family of Ibadan NorthEast in Oyo State. The Distinguished Senator Kola Balogun is the second Senator among his siblings as his elder brother (High Chief Moshood Olalekan Balogun) was a Senator in the 5th National Assembly. A day like this is a good one to itemise how God has been gracious and merciful to this Servant of God in public service, a namesake of a Prophet.

I like to describe a Coach as someone who impacts knowledge through practical demonstrations and activities. So Mohammed Kola Balogun has done enough to justify being referred to as public Coach. I have been in partisan politics for a while and I have the understanding of the good, the bad and the ugly because of how I have journeyed in the political terrain for over two decades. Senator Kola Balogun appeals to me as a servant of God, elected to serve God in the public sphere, not as clergyman. He has demonstrated this in the last two years and I think it's noteworthy.
Grace progression because the grace keeps increasing; responsibilities are thrusted at him and he has consistently shown both capacity and competence in service. I don't want to delve into how he became national party executive about 30yrs ago but would look at governance and his sterling leadership qualities. I believe Nigerians deserve the kind of leaders they get but sometimes, by mercy, God makes few divinely orchestrated emergence of leaders happen. Mohammed Kola Balogun is a man that has learnt to submit to the will of God once he perceives that's the flow of his Maker.

As Commissioner for Commerce and later for Works, Dr. Kola Balogun became the "go to" Commissioner in the then Governor Alao Akala's administration. The surprising thing was the fact that he came on his elder brother's nomination for the post and his dedication and loyalty to the Governor and the state soon distinguished him among his peers.
Interestingly, there are two Kola Baloguns in Oyo State politics and I never really knew who was who until this quintessential gentleman became the candidate of the PDP for Oyo South senatorial District around late October 2018 and I met this man for the first time in the first week of November. Like many party faithfuls, I felt it would be difficult to sell this former opposition party Governorship aspirant, so I requested for his profile. I was thrilled and felt the public most be aware of the prospect of getting him elected. Like how he became the Commissioner, he became elected despite all contrary permutations from oppositions and scheming from enemies within the party.

THE GIANTS' KILLER: Just like in Psalms 136 that the Mercy of the Lord was ascribed to do all things, I can see how the Grace of God has availed for Mohammed Kola Balogun in his strides in public service. As a member of the campaign team, I knew of the constraints; financially, after journeying from APC to ADC as Governorship aspirant with all the heavy spending before landing in PDP, the limited human resources, because majority of the PDP members just reluctantly accepted him because he's the Leader's preferred candidate and the shortness of the time to the election. With these constraints, he had to contest against incumbent Senator and incumbent two terms governor, who was even a Senator in same district. So, you can't blame those who never saw him as a major contender in the race. However, the Grace of God worked against his opponents because they made more error of decisions and same grace worked for him as he kept doing the right things which produced quantum of positive results as we gravitate towards the elections.
As a purposeful servant of God, Kola Balogun knew and acknowledged the Grace of God all through the race. As a Christian, I know the spiritual import of acknowledging the hand of God and proclaiming same at every opportunity. At first, I became confused and concluded that it's a political sloganeering because he was always swift to attribute any success to the Grace of God and when people called him Senator, he always answered (at all times, not most times) with "By the Grace of God". I only needed to flow with the grace of God and see where it would land us. The Grace of God landed us at the National Assembly with an unprecedented victory with uncontestable margin. Yes, the grace of God also frustrated all the efforts of the main opposition party to manipulate the true outcome of the election, despite all the resources and machinations deplored to achieve same. The same magnificent grace ensured Senator Kola Balogun won all the court cases instituted against.

PROGRESSING IN SERVICE: If the grace of God brought you this far, it would take the grace of God to go farther; Kola Balogun knew this and never stepped outside the canopy of His grace. Very unlike many first term Senators, Kola Balogun capitalized on the grace of God in relating with his colleagues at the Red Chambers and within a short while, he found his voice among the veteran Federal lawmakers. Without mincing words or exaggerating, Senator Kola Balogun has become a great lobbyist at the national Assembly because when it comes to national and district matters, party divides are not sufficient to hold him back.

AMONG THE CONSTITUENTS: understandably, because he didn't emerge from the popular channels of party structure as candidate and many felt they were denied of the opportunity to "task" him maximally; even after the victory, there were still reservations from the party members who were always complaining. These complains filtered to the constituents and many complained without any reasonable cause. We soon discovered the source and progression of the complaints and by the same grace of God, we were able to change the narratives, though the Covid 19 pandemic made us have a slow start. Now, it's no longer "he has not done anything", it has become "come and give us our portion too". Personally as a PR man, I know this is a big progression because Nigerians don't ask for "their portion too" unless they have evidence of others getting something.

According to the Iyaloja General of Oyo State and the Mother of the Oyo State Speaker, Chief Mrs Tina Ogundoyin: "No Senator has ever done so much for Ibarapa land like Senator Kola Balogun". Ibarapa land has 3 of the 9 local governments in the Oyo South District. Expectedly, they always FEEL marginalized but by the grace of God, Distinguished Senator Kola Balogun has always maintained their lot and entrench fairness in his distribution of dividends of democracy.

Gracious in speeches, humble in conducts, firm in principles, humourous in interactions, impacting in service and posterity-focused in priorities; beyond reasonable doubts, though thorough breed with pedigree of royal birth and international experience, the Grace of God that brought him to office is still at work in helping him produce the desired results.
I hate to contest against the Grace of God and I wish to have the opportunity to ask Governor Seyi Makinde what informed his decision of Dr Kola Balogun as the candidate for Oyo South. Like I acknowledged at every available opportunity; working to make the election of Kola Balogun a reality was winning Engr Seyi Makinde's election by 60% before his actual election because defeating the incumbent Governor and leader of the APC Governorship candidate was a task that must be accomplished for Omi Tuntun 2019 to become a reality.

This epitome of Grace is 65years today and still so youthful because even his stature and strength is another measure of Grace. Working with him can be so exhausting because once there is work to be done, no procrastinating, no resting. The good thing is that this same man of Grace also enjoys playing, his dexterity with words are legendary, his humours can spring up when least expected.

As a political Scientist with PhD, he has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that depth of academic knowledge in politics can also translate to exemplary Public service, where the heart is right and the grace of God is sufficient.

Mohammed Ademola Kola Balogun, "Omo Erin ka'wo ijaleri" Happy 65th birthday.

We would remember that the first Motion moved by Senator Kola Balogun on the floor of the Senate in 2019 was the Upgrade of the Alakia Airport to International Airport and the visit of his colleagues from the national Assembly is a follow up to the motion which is now taking the committee consideration.

GSM; THE DISCOVERED MISSING PUZZLE IN PUBLIC LEADERSHIP. By Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

GSM; THE DISCOVERED MISSING PUZZLE IN PUBLIC SERVICE | By Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope

Governor Seyi Makinde is so enigmatic that the more you know, the more you discover you don't know enough. So the greatest understanding of this silent great achiever is that he can not be fully comprehended.

Meanwhile, analysing the part of him that is presented in his leadership strides is very easy because it is dissecting his moves and interpreting his precepts from public service perspective. So, I crave your indulgence to follow me in this voyage.

EXEMPLARY SERVICE & MODESTY: Without sounding sycophantic, Governor Seyi Makinde has remained modest, exemplary in his conducts and subservient in his public service. For instance, in the 2020 budget, renovation of Ministries were executed, with all of them wearing new looks. I remembered how the Late Hon Kehinde Ayoola discussed the importance of the move with me. However, His Excellency has not yet allocated renovation to the Government House because he still lives in His personal residence. My point; his lifestyle has not changed in any noticeable way because till today, there is absolutely nothing he has or uses on government expenses that is above his previous status. Sincerely, this is one of the main problems of our elected leaders; they so much live above their initial incomes that they have to steal so much to maintain the unrealistic opulence they have been exposed to in office.

THE POPULIST BROUHAHA: I laugh when I hear the opposition accuse Governor Seyi Makinde of populist policies because it is always hilarious; you are complaining and condemning a democratic leader but hammering on his doing what will benefit the majority of the populace and factoring them into every policy promulgation as your major emphasis. The man that was Elitist got hated and booted out; isn't it obvious that elitist policies can't win elections where votes truly count? The late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was not elitist and his footprints are still on the sand of time till today. So, it's truly discovery of puzzle to find populist style in Governor Seyi Makinde; it is only when majority are satisfied that the majority will carry the vote. Majority of the active voters are among the masses and in the middle class. Perhaps, if we have had a couple of populist Presidents in Nigeria since 1999, Nigeria would have advanced beyond this pathetic level of underdevelopment.

THE MASTER BUILDER OF NEW OYO STATE: When I wrote about the street lights in part of Akobo, many of my friends were surprised, some pleasantly and others wondering but I told one who verbalised her consternation: "You may despise GSM because he doesn't have tribal marks or has not compensated you but we can't deny the evidence of unprecedented performance in Oyo State". I have trained my mind to appreciate what is good, irrespective of who does it but when my main man does it, I will not only acknowledge, I will blow his trumpet. The evidence of departure from cosmetic infrastructure and patching are the Ibadan Civic center junction that was perennial eyesore until permanent rehabilitation was done last year is a good example. Otherwise, it would have required another patching by now, in the middle of the rainy season. I heard a Governorship candidate condemned the Moniya-Iseyin road but I can't blame him since his mentor couldn't achieve that feat despite the Socioeconomic importance to the state. This single road is about 70km, more than all the roads constructed in the 8yrs administration of Governor Ajimobi who could only complete far less than 50km. Good infrastructure, aesthetic environment, good road networks etc are of great economic importance when charting the course of enduring development. Like Senator Kola Balogun rightly described GSM; he's the builder of modern Oyo State, not just the Architect who designs; Builders bring dreams to existence, abstract to reality and they deserve all the accolades.

There's another aspect but I would rather hold that till later. Na jeje I sit down and they started asking questions about the street lights I published and now I am joggling their brains so that they can know what has been on ground in just 2yrs are more than streetlights. Leadership goes beyond building infrastructure because any well paid contractor can achieve that but setting the priorities in the face of limited resources, coordinating the welfares of the populace and charting a good course for posterity are the jobs of good Leaders.

So, Gov Seyi Makinde is not just a Governor in Nigeria but he is the Governor, that is the missing puzzle in public leadership because he is raising the bar and making seemingly impossible strides pleasure rides in the face of recession and pandemic.

I am Rotimi Johnson -Ojasope and this is consistent with my believes and previous write ups in the last 10years, so if you have not been that consistent, take a walk and ignore this. However, if you are consistent, you can challenge me and let's have intellectual discuss.

CONCERNED CHRISTIANS CONGRATULATE MUSLIMS AT ILEYA, CHARGE OYSG ON FAIRNESS TO CHRISTIANS:

On this special occasion of the Eid El Kabir, the Concerned Christian Citizens wish to commemorate with the Muslim faithfuls for the celebration of the Salah. May this season bring peace and harmony to our dear nation especially Oyo State.
Meanwhile, it's not a secret that the Oyo State government through the LG's gave directives for the welfare package for Muslim religious and political leaders in their domains. This went down well with us as this has been the tradition from several past regimes but our concern is the bias we felt when it comes to Christmas season as such generousity is not replicated. Our Christian and political  leaders through the LG's do not get such treatment from the State down to the Local Government level.
We therefore implore our highly efficient, Governor Seyi Makinde to take cognizance of this giftings and ensure that equity and fairness is disp!ayed for future occurences, particularly for the Christmas Season which is fast approaching. We believe you will take corrective measures and we thank you immensely in anticipation of this show of courage and magnanimity.

Thank you and God bless Oyo State.

EID EL KABIR 2021; SENATOR BALOGUN FELICITATES MUSLIM UMMAH

SENATOR BALOGUN CONDEMNS CUSTOM'S KILLING OF PEOPLE AT IGANGAN

The Senator representing Oyo South District in the 9th national Assembly, Dr Mohammed Kola Balogun has condemned the operations of the men of the Nigerian Custom Service that led to the killing of 2 residents of Igangan and Amotekun Commander at Igboora.

In a statement released by the Senator's SA Media, he claims it's becoming incessant that Custom's men would kill innocent lives in the cause of their operations in Oyo State and even provoke a whole city to violence in the process.

"Agencies of Government must respect the sanctity of lives and operate in such a way to ensure there are minimum casualties when engaging suspects within the cities, particularly where it is more than the 40km radius stipulated in the Custom's Acts. We could remember a similar operation in Oke-Ogun that left about 3 innocent people dead earlier this year. People should be held accountable for lives lost and admitting the operations are not enough, the erring officers must be brought to book or even prosecuted to killing innocent people" Senator Kola Balogun posited.

People of Igangan have gone through a lot recently and the tension in the town is enough to cause the Custom's men to apply utmost caution in their operations; to avoid this kind of crisis and also for the safety of their men. We must be able to prevent a situation where the youths would rise in protest against any government agency because of unlawful killings because there are no punitive measures.

AMUSING MISTAKE; TO THE ALTER. By Rotimi Johnson

I was walking in my political neighborhood in 2002 or thereabout and I saw the wedding convoy drove pass me. On the vehicle where I suspected to be carrying the Bride, I saw this phrase; "TO THE ALTER".

I can't remember who was with me on the stroll or where we were going but I can't forget the message that mistake conveyed to me and I pointed it out to my company, rather jokingly, I said it's to the alter indeed.

With over 20years in marriage and about 18yrs since I saw the vehicle plate tag, I am even more persuaded that Marriage is a place of alterations, more than before.

So, I have discovered that marriages fail when both spouses or one of them refuse the alterations after leaving the wedding altar. I can still see the vehicle in my imagination till now and that was a SIMPLE MISTAKE TURNED MESSAGE.

I sincerely hope that couple got altered and still very married. Alterations take place at the alter but some spouses hold on for too long, resisting the alterations and condemning their partners for the alterations.

In this school of alterations, you receive your graduation certificate of the Institution immediately you get admitted and almost all the tests and trials are alterations focused.

I often wonder why spouses that were so excited on the wedding day get so bitter and frustrated later in the journey but the truth is that resistance to alterations make the frictions unbearable. Always having your way in marriage suggests you will soon be alone on the way.

I have been indoor in the last 24hrs, I have had cause to ponder on so many things and this message came back to mind.

Simply put, if you're not submitting to alterations in Marriage, the Institution won't be conducive for you; remaining who and where you were before admission into the Marriage Institution will spell doom for you and your spouse and fasting and prayers can replace submitting to the alterations, except you're praying for grace to flow with the alterations.

Furthermore, when only one spouse is getting altered on the journey, frustration soon sets in and frictions build until it becomes unbearable.

I am not a marriage counselor but I have read books and have enough insights into Wisdom by the grace of God to understand some issues of life.

If only couples spend quarter of the money they spend on wedding on education about how to make successful marriages, many homes wouldn't break up. I have no one in mind while writing this short article but since I have not written any article in weeks, except for official press releases, I am inspired to release this message to bless someone.

TO THE ALTAR, prepare to be altered and together you will get smooth operations as you progress further on the journey. Meanwhile, so many pretend to have started the alterations before the wedding but as soon as the ceremony is done, they revert to status quo.

AT THE ALTAR, YOU'RE ALTERED

Happy weekend folks

SENATOR BALOGUN TELLS JAMB TO UPGRADE SERVER AND TEST-RUN BEFORE EXAMS

The Senator representing Oyo South District in the 9th national Assembly, Dr Mohammed Kola Balogun has called on the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to upgrade its facilities, increase the CBT centers and do test-runs before the actual examinations.

According to the statement by his Special Adviser on Media, the Senator made it known after the inspections and reports from the JAMB CBT centers in his district and other parts of Oyo State. Senator Kola Balogun is a member, Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education and members are mandated to monitor the conducts of the examination.

"It is part of our oversight functions to monitor the examination and report back to the Committee. We must observe if their appropriation is justified and see how their operations can be improved to serve the people better. The conducts of the exams in Ibadan metropolis are satisfactory but reports from Ibarapa, Ogbomoso and Oyo towns are not, because of the hitches, delay and cases of some candidates not being able to sit for the exams. I have discussed with Dr Osofiisan, the state Director and he has assured the disenfranchised candidates will be rescheduled to sit with other batches this week. I hereby encourage the affected candidates to watch out for the new dates and do not relent in their preparations" Senator Balogun affirms

A detailed report of the inspection has been forwarded to the Committee and I am sure the consequent examinations of JAMB shall be improved on to prevent candidates from endless waiting and parents getting frustrated.

Signed.

GSM AT TWO; HE'S THE BUILDER OF MODERN OYO STATE, NOT ARCHITECT. | SENATOR BALOGUN.

The Senator representing Oyo South District, Dr Mohammed Kola Balogun has described Governor Seyi Makinde
as the Builder of modern Oyo State and not the architect. The Senator made this known in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Governor's administration.

According to the statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Senator; the Pacesetter State has had many Architects but their dreams and paper drawings never translated to structures and beautification like we have been experiencing since the beginning of this administration.

"As we congratulate Governor Seyi Makinde on his second anniversary, we must also appreciate God for sending us such a man at a time like this. Those who go ahead to build or perform what they wrote or said are needed at this stage of our nationhood, not just those going about with ideas without implementations. Governor Seyi Makinde is doing well and we pray for Grace, strength and wisdom to deliver more than the people can even expect of him in the second half of his administration". Senator Kola Balogun affirms.

It is important to note that every Senatorial District and zone in Oyo state has had a taste of good governance and  the work force are enjoying good administrative leadership too, unlike the previous experiences. At this rate, the pacesetter status of Oyo state shall be restored very soon.

Happy second anniversary to the People's Governor of Oyo State.
