TRIBUTE TO MY LEADER AT FIFTY (2), WHEN LEADER IS PREDICTABLY NICE

TRIBUTE TO MY LEADER AT FIFTY (2),  WHEN LEADER IS PREDICTABLY NICE

In politics, if you don't blow your precious trumpet, someone else will trample on it and that is why it's not every time you hide what the right hand is doing from the left hand in politics. So, blowing the trumpet of Seyi Makinde is a delight to me as I love to celebrate my few distinguished leaders. Yes, no leader is perfect except our Lord Jesus but when we see exceptional qualities in mortals, we must acknowledge such.

As a former social media administrator of OmiTitun organization and managing the personality of my Principal online, I have discovered that a man of impeccable integrity is very easy to manage, particularly when such person is not such that hide under principles to be insensitive and/or inhuman. You can assuredly say what will be your Principal's reaction to an issue and not be afraid of disappointment. I will give 2 instances:

1. A woman who claimed to be former classmate at Bishop Phillips came to meet me and said he has not been able to see my Oga. She's a teacher and her school was preparing for inter house sports competition and she wanted Seyi Makinde to sponsor it. I told her we are few weeks from general elections and I am not sure if he can accommodate the full expenses of the competition now but I will just tell her what to do. I told her he's coming to the building briefly and it will be with a great crowd, she should just stand where he car spot her, if you were as close as you claim, he will identity, stop and hold a brief chat with you. That I assured her but she was not so convinced it could be that easy. She complied and it happened exactly as I told her. As fate would have it, I was around when it happened and Oga directed her to me to collect his number and tell the PA to arrange for her meeting. The woman was almost kneeling down for me. I then gave her the number and wished her the best. She called to tell me Seyi Makinde promised to take the sponsorship of the next competitio, which he did.

2. Another woman came to me with her granddaughter and said my Oga was buying roasted plantain from her when he noticed the girl didn't go to school. She claimed she couldn't pay the fees and Oga gave her his number but he has not picked it. I explained to her that he has only one line and many unknown callers per minute; he can't pick all calls. The PA can't fixed all appointments when the schedule is too tight already and particularly when there is no how to verify you were truly on appointment. So, I adviced that she goes to the house first thing in the morning and stay there with the child. Oga will recognise the small girl and won't want you taking the girl about when she should be in school. And that was what happened. He spotted the beautiful 5year old and recognized her, he settled the fees immediately.

3. At the 2017 Mega Praise, a 9 year old performed. Someone contacted me that the boy is gifted and wants to minister at the concert. I spoke with the father and promised to ask the chairman of the committee and Otunba, the coordinator for five minutes; they should pray for favour as we have long list of ministers already. I explained that I am not assuring them of honorarium but if the boy does well and finds favor, then the rest should be testimony. Sincerely, I was praying along for the boy and father too. With the emphasis from the Mc and excitement of committee chairman, the boy got scholarship award from Engr Seyi Makinde.

“No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

Hmmm! I just remembered I promised to give 2 examples but as I write, tens of such instances flood my mind. I don't give his contacts, I only encourage people to pray God sends him to them, knowing it is something he enjoys doing; living for others with simplicity.

TRIBUTE TO MY LEADER AT FIFTY (1), WHEN IMPACT IS A DELIGHT

TRIBUTE TO MY LEADER AT FIFTY (1),  WHEN IMPACT IS A DELIGHT
Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, the third son of Pa Olatunbosun and Madam Abigail Makinde was born at Oluyoro Catholic Hospital in Ibadan on the 25th of December, 1967. That is, he clocked 50years a couple days ago. This is not an issue of official age, though one will be tempted to wonder how a young man can achieve so much in five decades. His age, like every other thing about him, it is simple and real.
Seyi Makinde might not know but I watch his every step and I believe so much in his leadership style. On the occasion of his 50th birthday, no new car, no new house; he has just demonstrated greater impacts. Commissioning of e-library, laying foundation of multipurpose hall, visit to Oluyoro Catholic hospital and scholarship awards to many gifted children. Wao! What else do you need to convince doubters that this is a life committed to meaningful impacts, grandstanding?
His prints are all over; in Oke-Ogun, at Ibarapa, Oyo, Ogbomoso, at University of Lagos, University College Hospital, Ibadan, among student's
unions, trade associations and individuals. The name Seyi Makinde is synonymous with charity, wealth, quality, humanity and excellence. The other day, someone was bragging about how the incumbent governor worked with an oil company before coming into politics and I just answered that Seyi Makinde didn't just work with oil company, he founded an Oil company which was awarded International Standard Organization (ISO) certification  about a decade ago. So, how do you compare oil company employee to employer?

I have written severally about this humble man and the more I write, the more I discover there are more to write about. Recently, the media team of President Buhari had to showcase "the human side of the President" but I said that's only necessary because he's not humane enough; he has never demonstrated enough compassion and charity like my leader, Seyi Makinde.
The swift responses in disaster and emergency situations is second to none among we politicians and you shouldn't be surprised that he has made such impacts his lifestyle. A life devoted to impacts; charity, giving with simplicity and humility, living his life for others. I introduced to a young man who came in from the USA for this 50th birthday, he was the best graduating student of his set at the Polytechnic Ibadan and Seyi Makinde sent him to US for further studies. He's now a successful man too and married. There are many cases of unprecedented charity gesture from this humble man of destiny.

Seyi Makinde, posterity shall celebrate you.
