FRIDAY LEADERSHIP NUGGETS: LEADING BY EXAMPLE

FRIDAY LEADERSHIP NUGGETS: LEADING BY EXAMPLE (Reloaded)

Our leadership style in Nigeria is still following the oppressive foundation of traditional institutions, colonialism and dictatorial pattern of military rules and these make our leaders too powerful and no one dares question them. They are "do as I say leaders, not do as I do".
There's no gain saying the fact that we adapted to these kinds in the past and any departure from these was considered as weak or inefficient leadership. However, the gap between the leaders and the led is too much, the disparity between allowances, the comfort of the reservation areas they live and their general lifestyles are extremely opposite to those of the populace.

Oppressive tendencies pervade our societies and joining the oppressors is considered as "arrival" and sudden wealth is celebrated with funfair, even in religious settings. Though we were used to this background, the level of our awareness now surpasses these practices and the average Nigerian craves for a departure from colonialism and dictatorship.

Leading by example attract great followership, it's easy to follow someone who is "doing it" (demonstrating) what should be done. Jesus said; "follow me and I will make you" and Apostle Paul said "follow me as I follow Christ". What is demonstrated stick longer to the brain than what was barely instructed.

Fashola, is still the best example of public leader around here; demonstrating what he wanted, no sirens, didn't drive on BRT lanes and his modest lifestyle was obvious to all. Yes, he was not perfect but he demonstrated it that it can be done and no reasonable man denies what has been demonstrated.

Buhari presidency too has tried to demonstrate chastity and even the opposition cannot fault that; the numerical strength of his entourage has reduced, his priorities are "cost-saving" driven and it's easier to believe his anti corruption fight because he lives it. I am not his PR-man but I can't fault him in what he has demonstrated.
Meanwhile in this same clime, we have leaders sacking staff on cases of theft but themselves live above their incomes, they screen workers' credentials but themselves live fake lives, false identities and multiple citizenry. The followers might not be able to confront the leader but they know he's lying.

Even in family setting, it's difficult to prevent the children from repeating what they see the parents demonstrated, you can proclaim till eternity that "not for children" but they will only desire to imitate the adults and hate childhood; they see childhood as deprivation.

Our leaders are complaining of austerity but they live in opulence, they admit the fallen standard of education but their wards school abroad, we have banks of international standard in Nigeria but they stack money in foreign banks. Without making it public, the top civil servants too start sending their children abroad, (even public teachers send their wards to private schools), buying houses overseas and going about in sirens because that's how it should be: "arrival status".

Now, a serving governor has gone to marry off his daughter in foreign country, laying the precedence for such; leadership is not convenience, it's sacrifice and you trade off your personal liberty, you stop doing things just because you feel like but because of the impressions the people get.

Leadership Quote: Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing.

Buhari Administration Is A Kabuki of Deceit. By Bamidele Ademola-Olateju

Buhari Administration Is A Kabuki of Deceit. By Bamidele Ademola-Olateju

And so it happened yet again! Abdulrasheed Maina the world class pension thief is back in government. As it is in Kabuki, the traditional Japanese popular dance drama. The Buhari administration has evolved into a Kabuki of deceit. The anti-corruption crusade is now a rich blend of lies, deceit, favoritism, sectionalism accompanied by spectacular staging and costuming. The change mantra is now theatrical form only in the eyes of Buhari fanatics.

Maina did not write any promotion examination to the rank of a Director. He was AWOL for almost three years. He has now been reabsorbed and deployed as a Director. Here is a man who was an Assistant Director when Goodluck Jonathan fast tracked him to a Deputy Director to make him head the Pension Task Force where he bolted with funds to United Arabs Emirate. A government that recalls and rewards a fugitive is a huge joke. This is not what we voted for. This government is an embarrassment. Please find something for Tompolo. What does the vulture have that the hornbill does not have?

AJIMOBI AND THE RELEGATION STRUGGLE

AJIMOBI AND THE RELEGATION STRUGGLE:
Like the Yoruba adage says, you desperately search for what's lost; Ajimobi lost his top position on the electoral log table and has been running about, from UK to Aso Rock, from Ibadan to Ogbomoso and throwing hands in the air, expectedly as a drowning man.
He has signed 2 great strikers according to his e-goons but if that is true, how come the Coach is still so restless and reckless? No doubt, Gov Akala and Sen. Folarin are good game players but that depends on the cohesion and team work, which is not likely considering the facts that the present players of the senatorial wings won't applaud their replacements and go about among the fans dancing.
What Ajimobi doesn't understand yet is that as soon as it's obvious a club is already in relegation struggle, even the fans and spectators reduce, star players wish to escape before the end of the season and the management threatens the Coach with sack.
Blaming the President of the Fan's club (Olubadan) and former striker (Ladoja) for the abysmal performance and imminent relegation is preposterous and outlandish. The issue is what have you done with the resources at your disposal? How have you managed your star players? Yes, you can't win all matches but the failure to woo the majority of the fans (both in and diaspora) is your undoing.
Mr Coach-player, you can't eat your cake and have it. You can't be free to talk anyhow you like and block the freedom of the people in how they reach to your comments. Words are so powerful that the whole world was created by words.
Coachie, you planned to be in relegation by failing to have a solid plan to remain on top of the electoral log table. The countdown has started and the Koseleri kind of relegation is loading.
God bless the Pacesetter State.

RE: ASHIPA'S PDP ON MY MIND AND THE ELECTRIC FISH.

RE: ASHIPA'S PDP ON MY MIND AND THE ELECTRIC FISH.

Few days ago, an elder in Oyo state politics, social media commentator and former factional PRO of the PDP, Ismaila Ashipa wrote about "PDP on my mind" with the analogy of the Eel fish, though he attempted to liken the self inflicted blindness of this wonderful creature to PDP, he was not a successful attempt at all. He invariably gave me a material to use for this writeup to show how the APC has activated the self-destruct button and blindness.

One thing is indisputable and that is that PDP can never cease to be on Ashipa's mind and soul but the Eel Fish is a better typology of APC than PDP. I have seen and read documentaries on this electric Fish a couple of times and when I read Ismaila Ashipa's PDPonMyMind, I thought his recent sentiment about PDP has affected the focus of his write up. So, I have chosen to help my big brother (Egbon) stay focused and articulated on this subject.

1. The Eel fish releases as much as 860volts to it's perimeter in self defense: APC, in attempts to snatch government/power from PDP, released caustic, ominous and detrimental statements and actions to discredit and attack the PDP. Actions like blocking the FG from successful purchase of weapons from South Africa and saying Boko Haram is not terrorist organization (etc). High voltage attacks against the PDP.

2. Even when there's no cause, the Eel fish lives in constant suspicion and releases the attack: The APC in further attempts to attack the PDP government did not just fund many social activisms against the PDP, also rose to challenge the removal of fuel subsidy, grounded the whole nation in the process but it was unfounded suspicion and shameful display of political aggression.

3. The blindness of the Eel fish resulted from constant releases of the electricity: the APC flourished so much in propaganda and opposition attacks that till now, the greatest opposition to the ruling party is the APC. The house is divided; the National Assembly leadership birthed from rebellion, the discordant tunes reverberating throughout all arms of this administration. Rather than move the country forward, APC is still busy attacking the defeated party, it's stalwarts and defending against the division within it's (APC) rank.

4. The resultant blindness of the Eel Fish: the APC complained bitterly of the clueless administration of Goodluck Jonathan but the incessant attacks and releases have led to the blindness of the leadership and loss of vision of APC. The party is so visionless now that they can't even see what are written in their party manifestos again. It's so bad that the changed promised Nigerians has been pushed back to them, they've forgotten the meaning of restructuring that they promised and even the President doesn't know Aso Rock should be in Abuja, not UK. Gross disillusion and terrible visionlessness. This government is groping in darkness but like the Eel Fish, the attacks are still been released, even when it's for no just cause.

5. The Eel Fish chases helpers away from it's perimeter: Mr President went outside the country to claim Nigerians are corrupt. Suspension of Forex and frustration of Nigerians in the diaspora, those who pray, work and fight endlessly to birth a new country; Mr. President claims they are all corrupt. By this unfounded statements, the foreign investors were scared off, the patriotic Diaspora became discouraged and the recession hit hard on the nation.

No doubt, like the Eel fish that was not born blind but resulted into blindness through ceaseless releases of high voltage, the APC is to sharp and double headed but regrettably has started cutting it's own holster.
