TRIBUTE TO MY LEADER AT FIFTY (2), WHEN LEADER IS PREDICTABLY NICE
TRIBUTE TO MY LEADER AT FIFTY (1), WHEN IMPACT IS A DELIGHT
unions, trade associations and individuals. The name Seyi
Makinde is synonymous with charity, wealth, quality, humanity and excellence.
The other day, someone was bragging about how the incumbent governor worked
with an oil company before coming into politics and I just answered that Seyi
Makinde didn't just work with oil company, he founded an Oil company which was
awarded International Standard Organization (ISO) certification about a decade ago. So, how do you compare oil
company employee to employer?Sunday, 10 December 2017

UNDERSTANDING THE LEADER'S BODY LANGUAGE:
UNDERSTANDING THE LEADER'S BODY LANGUAGE:
The task of leadership is beyond words of mouth or title, it's great responsibility. Have you ever dovetailed a car at night for any reason and you swiftly avoided a deep pothole just because the leading car ran into it? Your attention is on the car, not the driver; the speed and maneuver determine yours. That's the same way with the Leader and followers; the response may not be instructed but mere watching the leader's gestures dictate the next actions, believing it's the leader's dictate. However, followers in this clime fall in same pits their leaders fell into and repeat same mistakes because the standard is so low and we celebrate mediocrity.
Many times, followers take actions that are actually reactions to side comments they heard from the leader, the expressions on his face, the disgust expressed when alone with very close aides. For instance, if a popular Chief visits the leader and he hisses before the aides but still granted audience and after, complained about how his time was wasted; next time the Chief comes, the aides will just shut him out. Examples abound in our public space; those who receive you warmly in your presence and you wonder why another meeting never held. The leader is always communicating, even when silent, frowning or smiling. If the Governor always utters violent words in the car, when he sees what displeases him within the city, his followers and personal aides will beat and maim people to please him; he doesn't have to order it.
The thugs and touts that follow Nigeria politicians are very sensitive to the body languages and they are more than ready to kill and maim to please the leader. They know the leader who hates violence and they would always complain that their leader "dulls" (prevents them from actions) them. On the other hand, if they know his comments and private utterances are provocative, they are excited at opportunities to display their violent potentials. I experienced this, several times during my past campaigns; my followers complaining that I "dull them" or that they know I can never agree to something they would have loved to do. Sincerely, I sometimes think their methods can produce immediate results and tempted to say yes but I have always insisted on the peaceful way, though they think you're not courageous or confident enough. In the long run, they see it pays and admit it's part of my personality.
The same thing applies to appearances; a flamboyant leader grooms flamboyant followers without verbalizing it. Just recently, I asked my young friend if we are still on the route to a particular destination and he answered me yes, very confidently. About 15minutes later, we discovered we have missed our way and I accused him of answering confidently, even when he was not sure. I was shocked when he told me he learnt from me that you must always answer very confidently. Wao! I never told him that but he understood how much I appreciate confident responses. I had to explain to him that you can still state it very confidently that you're not very familiar with the route. I have been meditating on this topic for a while before this incident and it contributed to my lesson. I remember a story I heard during the peak of roadside kiosks demolition in Ibadan, how on an evening, the Governor stopped his convoy, came down and threw away the tray of a Suya seller. Wao! You can imagine how ruthless those working with the appropriate agency would be, believing the Governor must be proud of the aggression shown in the execution of their duties. Great leaders are cautious, even when they slip, they admit they were wrong.
As a leader, if you're given to so much pleasure, your followers will escape from duty posts for fun. If you dress shabbily, they will dress woefully. If you read often, they will always want to flaunt their new discoveries around you too. If you like gossips, they will be busybodies. If you utter violent words, they will be hired killers. If you're talkative, they will be garrulous. All these are common around us and you know they were never instructed to imitate or replicate the leader; it rubs on through the body languages and attitudes. Gov. Babatunde Fashola's driver can not drive rough, offensively or break traffic laws when his boss will not even use the siren. Even the security escorts can not go about intimidating other road users. He doesn't have to instruct them specifically but mere seeing what pleases him and what he complains about while in the car are enough.
When you see the escorts attached to public officers maltreat the people and the Oga says "I didn't send them o"; he doesn't have to send them; they interpreted his body language correctly, what he says afterwards, notwithstanding. As leaders, our actions and gestures speak louder than words and we must be careful how we conduct ourselves around them. When my followers and young friends say some things about me, I marvel at their interpretations of the gesture. I avoid violent and dirty utterances when driving, irrespective of the provocation on the Nigeria roads; not just because that helps me to maintain my sanity and godliness, I know those around me will take it to the next level.
In conclusion, the task of public leadership is more than title or position; it's about character and role play; the words count as much as every action and gesture. You see the people law enforcement agents treat with kid gloves and others with ruthlessness; these are consequences of the leader's body language interpretation.

FRIDAY LEADERSHIP NUGGETS: LEADING BY EXAMPLE
FRIDAY LEADERSHIP NUGGETS: LEADING BY EXAMPLE (Reloaded)
Our leadership style in Nigeria is still following the oppressive foundation of traditional institutions, colonialism and dictatorial pattern of military rules and these make our leaders too powerful and no one dares question them. They are "do as I say leaders, not do as I do".
There's no gain saying the fact that we adapted to these kinds in the past and any departure from these was considered as weak or inefficient leadership. However, the gap between the leaders and the led is too much, the disparity between allowances, the comfort of the reservation areas they live and their general lifestyles are extremely opposite to those of the populace.
Oppressive tendencies pervade our societies and joining the oppressors is considered as "arrival" and sudden wealth is celebrated with funfair, even in religious settings. Though we were used to this background, the level of our awareness now surpasses these practices and the average Nigerian craves for a departure from colonialism and dictatorship.
Leading by example attract great followership, it's easy to follow someone who is "doing it" (demonstrating) what should be done. Jesus said; "follow me and I will make you" and Apostle Paul said "follow me as I follow Christ". What is demonstrated stick longer to the brain than what was barely instructed.
Fashola, is still the best example of public leader around here; demonstrating what he wanted, no sirens, didn't drive on BRT lanes and his modest lifestyle was obvious to all. Yes, he was not perfect but he demonstrated it that it can be done and no reasonable man denies what has been demonstrated.
Buhari presidency too has tried to demonstrate chastity and even the opposition cannot fault that; the numerical strength of his entourage has reduced, his priorities are "cost-saving" driven and it's easier to believe his anti corruption fight because he lives it. I am not his PR-man but I can't fault him in what he has demonstrated.
Meanwhile in this same clime, we have leaders sacking staff on cases of theft but themselves live above their incomes, they screen workers' credentials but themselves live fake lives, false identities and multiple citizenry. The followers might not be able to confront the leader but they know he's lying.
Even in family setting, it's difficult to prevent the children from repeating what they see the parents demonstrated, you can proclaim till eternity that "not for children" but they will only desire to imitate the adults and hate childhood; they see childhood as deprivation.
Our leaders are complaining of austerity but they live in opulence, they admit the fallen standard of education but their wards school abroad, we have banks of international standard in Nigeria but they stack money in foreign banks. Without making it public, the top civil servants too start sending their children abroad, (even public teachers send their wards to private schools), buying houses overseas and going about in sirens because that's how it should be: "arrival status".
Now, a serving governor has gone to marry off his daughter in foreign country, laying the precedence for such; leadership is not convenience, it's sacrifice and you trade off your personal liberty, you stop doing things just because you feel like but because of the impressions the people get.
Leadership Quote: Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing.

Buhari Administration Is A Kabuki of Deceit. By Bamidele Ademola-Olateju
Buhari Administration Is A Kabuki of Deceit. By Bamidele Ademola-Olateju
And so it happened yet again! Abdulrasheed Maina the world class pension thief is back in government. As it is in Kabuki, the traditional Japanese popular dance drama. The Buhari administration has evolved into a Kabuki of deceit. The anti-corruption crusade is now a rich blend of lies, deceit, favoritism, sectionalism accompanied by spectacular staging and costuming. The change mantra is now theatrical form only in the eyes of Buhari fanatics.
Maina did not write any promotion examination to the rank of a Director. He was AWOL for almost three years. He has now been reabsorbed and deployed as a Director. Here is a man who was an Assistant Director when Goodluck Jonathan fast tracked him to a Deputy Director to make him head the Pension Task Force where he bolted with funds to United Arabs Emirate. A government that recalls and rewards a fugitive is a huge joke. This is not what we voted for. This government is an embarrassment. Please find something for Tompolo. What does the vulture have that the hornbill does not have?

AJIMOBI AND THE RELEGATION STRUGGLE
RE: ASHIPA'S PDP ON MY MIND AND THE ELECTRIC FISH.
RE: ASHIPA'S PDP ON MY MIND AND THE ELECTRIC FISH.
Few days ago, an elder in Oyo state politics, social media commentator and former factional PRO of the PDP, Ismaila Ashipa wrote about "PDP on my mind" with the analogy of the Eel fish, though he attempted to liken the self inflicted blindness of this wonderful creature to PDP, he was not a successful attempt at all. He invariably gave me a material to use for this writeup to show how the APC has activated the self-destruct button and blindness.
One thing is indisputable and that is that PDP can never cease to be on Ashipa's mind and soul but the Eel Fish is a better typology of APC than PDP. I have seen and read documentaries on this electric Fish a couple of times and when I read Ismaila Ashipa's PDPonMyMind, I thought his recent sentiment about PDP has affected the focus of his write up. So, I have chosen to help my big brother (Egbon) stay focused and articulated on this subject.
1. The Eel fish releases as much as 860volts to it's perimeter in self defense: APC, in attempts to snatch government/power from PDP, released caustic, ominous and detrimental statements and actions to discredit and attack the PDP. Actions like blocking the FG from successful purchase of weapons from South Africa and saying Boko Haram is not terrorist organization (etc). High voltage attacks against the PDP.
2. Even when there's no cause, the Eel fish lives in constant suspicion and releases the attack: The APC in further attempts to attack the PDP government did not just fund many social activisms against the PDP, also rose to challenge the removal of fuel subsidy, grounded the whole nation in the process but it was unfounded suspicion and shameful display of political aggression.
3. The blindness of the Eel fish resulted from constant releases of the electricity: the APC flourished so much in propaganda and opposition attacks that till now, the greatest opposition to the ruling party is the APC. The house is divided; the National Assembly leadership birthed from rebellion, the discordant tunes reverberating throughout all arms of this administration. Rather than move the country forward, APC is still busy attacking the defeated party, it's stalwarts and defending against the division within it's (APC) rank.
4. The resultant blindness of the Eel Fish: the APC complained bitterly of the clueless administration of Goodluck Jonathan but the incessant attacks and releases have led to the blindness of the leadership and loss of vision of APC. The party is so visionless now that they can't even see what are written in their party manifestos again. It's so bad that the changed promised Nigerians has been pushed back to them, they've forgotten the meaning of restructuring that they promised and even the President doesn't know Aso Rock should be in Abuja, not UK. Gross disillusion and terrible visionlessness. This government is groping in darkness but like the Eel Fish, the attacks are still been released, even when it's for no just cause.
5. The Eel Fish chases helpers away from it's perimeter: Mr President went outside the country to claim Nigerians are corrupt. Suspension of Forex and frustration of Nigerians in the diaspora, those who pray, work and fight endlessly to birth a new country; Mr. President claims they are all corrupt. By this unfounded statements, the foreign investors were scared off, the patriotic Diaspora became discouraged and the recession hit hard on the nation.
No doubt, like the Eel fish that was not born blind but resulted into blindness through ceaseless releases of high voltage, the APC is to sharp and double headed but regrettably has started cutting it's own holster.

OYO STATE PDP: BEWARE OF THE CRYPTO-MISCHIEF MAKERS
OYO STATE PDP: BEWARE OF THE CRYPTO-MISCHIEF MAKERS:
For those monitoring the recent developments in Oyo State chapter of the PDP, particularly as regards the reconciliation efforts, you will discover a few elements that are neither here nor there; they talk faster than reasoning and with utmost hidden agenda to thwalt the reconciliation efforts. No doubt, they would rather have the former PDP than this all encompassing new PDP.
From time immemorial, there are people who benefit from crises and calamities and the Yorubas call them; "arije nibi mabaru". These are the ones I have captured as the crypto-mischief makers because their game is not obvious to the naive and politically unschooled; they appear like one of us but they are not part of us.
Though the formation of COSMA in Oyo State has made attacking anyone in the opposition a forbidden attempt, it is important to clarify that there are few elements out there, particularly on the social media space who have dissented with us long ago and whose efforts have being detrimental to the coalition of the opposition parties in Oyo state.
I refrain from name calling but I want the public to be aware that not all those who appear like us are part of us. Beware of the crypto-mischief makers, awon arije nibi madaru, whose enterprise are getting frustrated daily by the progress of the reconciliation efforts. You can easily unveil their schemes by asking who is their leader in the reconciliation arrangement; oro pa esi je niyen.
Finally, the better Oyo state that we crave is a collective responsibility; no sincere and articulate politician or member of the public will be snubbed. Those that are dangerous are the ones who neither joins us nor part ways with us; "every onlooker is either a coward or a traitor".
Good day friends.

SEYI MAKINDE: UNDERSTANDING THE PDP RETURN
SEYI MAKINDE: UNDERSTANDING THE PDP RETURN
Many people have asked me privately and publicly why I consider the PDP return as a great move and I have tried to explain it; I have reasons to make my explanations public. I must admit publicly that I was praying seriously that if my leader ever considers leaving SDP, that he should lead us back to the PDP, and that early enough, so that we can dot the "I" and cross the "T".
The outcome of the last election was not just devasting to many of us in the opposition but was a great lesson for those of us who care not to repeat mistakes. The devasting effects of the loss help the lesson learnt sink deep; we helped to enthrone the most unpopular Governor in Oyo state, who won with just 32% of the votes cast. We must admit our roles in the successful return of Ajimobi to government House.
When Engr Seyi Makinde decided to announce his defection to SDP on the 15th of December, 2014, we were just about 2 months to the election. Just as he declared and the campaign kicked off, Gov Ajimobi changed his campaign colours from predominantly blue to orange, same as SDP colour and the propaganda that Seyi Makinde has withdrawn from the race hit the public waves. We fought to correct these wrong impressions for about 3 weeks with intensive publicity but time was not on our side.
The move to SDP was greeted with scepticism by some followers and sympathisers of OmiTitun aspiration in PDP and those in that category refused to join the train to SDP; promising to offer their supports from their PDP base but we know that can't be counted on. Also, the kinds of candidates we fielded for the House of Assembly election were not strong enough, many of them became candidates of necessity, not strong ambition, which made Engr Seyi Makinde the main contender for the governorship and state house of assembly elections. Though we worked hard, we didn't approach the 2015 election from point of strength but weakness and sympathy from the people.
In principle, there are only two political parties in Nigeria and these are APC and PDP; all other political parties are offsprings of these two parties, formed to challenge unpleasant status quo in either parties. Looking at the 2015 election in Oyo state, there were 5 major political parties; APC, PDP, SDP, ACCORD, LABOUR. That is, PDP disintegrated into 4 parties and they went into the elections as opponents, pulling one another down with powerful campaign of calumny. It was therefore not surprising that the result turned out that way. APC had a victory she didn't deserve in Oyo state and the stage was set for tyranny and serious impoverishment of our people.
The choice to go to APC or PDP was on the table and APC was sincerely the first consideration though the PDP national leaders never stopped making overtures to Engr Seyi Makinde to return to the party. The choice must be based on trust and the strength of the stalwarts in the party; in Oyo State, PDP has very strong politicians in all the regions of the state, far more than APC where the Governor is the alpha and Omega. Remember, Engr Seyi Makinde and others left PDP because we believed there was no leveled playing ground for the emergence of the party flag bearers. So, with this understanding, the issue that drove us out of PDP could be resolved.
With strong promise of leveled playing field, settling of personal quarrels, desire to put the populace and followers before aspirations; the stage was set for unprecedented reconciliation. It was a journey of about 18months, with wounds washing before treatments. The result is what we have now. For a forward looking aspirant, it is more reasonable and smart to join forces with Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, the former minister of state for FCT, Hon Mulikat Akande from Ogbomoso, Senator Hosea Agboola from Oke-Ogun, Dr Saka Balogun, former Chief of Staff to Governor Akala, Elder Wole Oyelese, Chief Yekini Adeojo, Chief Richard Akinjide, Hon Muraina Ajibola from Ibarapa, High Chief Senator Ladoja, Senator Lanlehin and many others in PDP, Accord, Labour and many others that have become politically complacent due to political injustice.
That's the smart decision for anyone desirous of electoral victory, not just playing to the gallery. Nigerians should stop being deceived by political nomenclatures; we should focus on the personalities fielded by the parties. Politicians only use party coloration to deceive the people then move enmasse to another party after soiling the name; let's rise above party prejudices.
Now in PDP, it's not as if anything is automatic but the hope of fairness and leveled playing field encourage us to take up the challenge of return to make a difference in our approach at the same goal of getting to Agodi House in 2019. This we have resolved to do and this we have started without insulting the sensibility of other interested aspirants in the party but forging ahead with great momentum.
Finally in Nigeria, it is a pathetic reality that we don't practice politics of ideology but we follow interests and persons; so where we defect to depends on who are in the party and our opinion of them. Our democracy is still tender, with challenges but the internal democracy in PDP is far better than that of APC. The crises in PDP were borne out of too much freedom and the party discipline has been stepped up now to correct for the laxities.
Engr Seyi Makinde's return to PDP is not only exciting, calculated but is it very timely too. Like he often sang at the political rallies; "the God that gave the task will enable us to accomplish it (Olorun to leru aba wa gbe)". Keep praying for us and feel free to reach out to support us and give suggestions.
Thank you.
Ojasope cares!

WHAT'S IN THE NAME NIGERIA (Part 2): THE CLARION CALL. By Cyrus Johnson
WHAT'S IN THE NAME NIGERIA (Part 2): THE CLARION CALL. By Cyrus Johnson
Mr. President, Federal Republic of Nigeria and all Federal Executive Council Members; The Senate President and Distinguished Senators; The Speaker, Federal House of Representatives and other Honorable Members; dear knowledgeable and unique citizens of Nigeria, I plead with you to take up this challenge of chatting a new good course for this Nation, Nigeria. It doesn’t matter how far we have travelled the wrong road, we can turn back now towards a genuine Rebranding process to arrive at our desired destination. We have to bear it in mind that the year 2017 would mark 103 years that we have been answering to a name that is not working for us.
I therefore want to proffer two solutions to this challenge: Firstly, a change of name or modification of name through a Constitutional Conference. This would make it possible for all concerned to come together to give a name that would add meaning to our present and create a vision for our future. Then our fortune would change for better, this I strongly believe, knowing well that we have all the potentials that it takes to succeed.
Secondly: I recommend a National day of prayer. We may have to pray to the God of Creation, in the way of the ‘Prayer of Jabez’. Jabez was a Biblical character whose name meant ‘to make sorrowful’. Realizing that fact, decided to pray to God of heaven and earth to change the effect of his name to Joy and to also enlarge his coast, so that he would no more cause pain and sorrow but Joy. God answered his prayer. The Bible records it that Jabez was more honorable than his brethren. Nigerians are religious people, whether Christians or Muslims. I therefore call for a ‘National Day of Prayer’ to be led by Mr. President himself. This shall be a day declared as a National Day of Prayer when it will be compulsory for every citizen to fast and pray for our motherland.
Fellow Nigerians, let us come together as one family under the mercy of God the Almighty to chat a new course for this Country. Let’s come together, putting tribalism, religion or politics aside, to begin; let’s stay together to progress; and let’s work together to succeed.
Let us Pray:
Oh God of Creation
Direct our Noble course
Guide our Leaders right
Help our Youth the truth to know
In Love and Honesty to Grow
And Live in Just and True
Great Lofty Heights attain
To Build a Nation where Peace and Justice Reign. Amen.

WHAT’S IN THE NAME NIGERIA? (Part 1) By Cyrus Johnson
WHAT’S IN THE NAME NIGERIA? (Part 1) By Cyrus Johnson
I believe you have a name and if you are an African, something must be associated with your name; whether rightly or wrongly. A name is defined by The New Webster’s Dictionary of the English Language as, a word or words by which a person, place or thing is known. A name can also be an appellation or a reputation that a person or place is called or known by. How then do we give a name? It can be given as a result of a single decisive characteristic of the bearer. Or, it can be to recall an event or mood which the parent(s) experienced at or shortly before birth. It could also be to make a statement about the bearer. Names are at times given to create a reputation or fame for the bearer. In all of these purposes and methods of christening, which one of them can we then say was used to christen our dear Nation, Nigeria?
During my search for the meaning of Nigeria, I came across an article written by the Editor of Burningpot.com, an internet Newspaper, Prince Charles Dickson. In his concluding paragraph, he did ask two questions, thus: What is the circumstance of the birth of Nigeria? Can anything be done to bring destiny and fate to conjure up some good for us all? My candid answer to the second part of Prince Dickson’s question is, yes. The onus of that responsibility lies in all of us, Nigerians, to deliberately decide to have a new birth, when all of us will contribute to the christening of ourselves as a Nation. My answer to the first question might sound funny, but that is actually the picture I can deduce.
• The circumstance of the birth of Nigeria came about by the relationship between a, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, by the names, Flora Shaw and Lord Fredrick Luggard. Flora Shaw was the Editor of the Times Newspapers who later became the wife of Lord Luggard, the First Governor General of the Colony called Nigeria. She was the first person to describe us by that nomenclature, Nigeria in The Times in 1897. My conclusion therefore is that there was neither MEANINGFUL CIRCUMSTANCE nor EVENT nor HISTORY behind our naming than that our name could probably be birth on these two individuals bed or a cup of coffee table. It is very sad to realize that none of our leaders participated in our naming. No philosophy, no historical background reference, nor vision was considered when our name is to be given.
However, my search led me to two probable meanings of the name, Nigeria. One: Niger is a Latin word that means Black. Two: The name Niger, pronounced ‘Niije’ was derived from the Tuareg Natives from “Nighirren” meaning, ‘Flowing Water’. The Tuaregs were members of a nomadic Berber people of the Central and Western Sahara, Hamitic in speech and Muslim in Religion.
Flora Shaw in her wisdom thought that the best name she could describe our Nation was ‘Niger Area’. Which was better referred to as ‘Nigeria’. Another question now is; who gave the name River ‘Niger’? Or who discovered the River? Were there no natives along the banks of the River Niger who could have probably had a native name for the River?
Fellow country men and women, with these probable two sources of our name, Nigeria, I concluded that:
The name Nigeria was not birth as an outcome of some leaders coming together to form this name either through their philosophical, historical or religious believes. None of our leaders participated in the christening of this Nation, Nigeria;
Our destiny, our future was determined by two people who had no stake in the future of this Nation.

COSMA CELEBRATES AS LADOJA LEADS THE RETURN TO PDP
COSMA CELEBRATES AS LADOJA LEADS THE RETURN TO PDP:
The Coalition of Opposition Social Media Activists (COSMA) members have been ecstatic since the news of the return of High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja to the Peoples Democratic Party; yea, the stone that the builder scorned has become the cornerstone. COSMA excitement is understandable due to the reconciliation moves they birthed since July 2016. It is our strong persuasion that the return of Pa Ladoja and other returnees' have only boosted our confidence in the unity of the opposition camps in Oyo State.
Things started unfolding in rapid succession since the Supreme Court affirmed Senator Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic Caretaker Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party and the reconciliation that started rather precariously and gradually in Oyo State began to take shape and brighten the hope of formidable opposition. Saying this is very commendable is either being stingy with words of mischievous.
However in my Oyo State, the political headquarters of the South West and the base of most of the opposition gladiators, the reconciliation was taken with pint of salt because such moves in the past never turned out well. In fact, they only widened the gap the more.
Now, Ajimobi will grow more grey hair and become slimmer because this successful move is a consistent nightmare to him until 2019 elections; don't be surprised to know that Obaship misadventure was party of the moves to divide the electoral potential of Ibadan, ahead of this reconciliation and perceived political fortification of Ladoja.
As we earnestly await other leaders announcing their gallant return to the umbrella of the mother of opposition political parties in Nigeria, we know the work has just started and we must ensure we put Oyo State first in all things. We are not the Pacesetter state for nothing, we must set commendable pace and keep at it.
Ladoja has shown the way and gone ahead to tread the path; congratulations to COSMA members and true lovers of democracy who value the position of vibrant opposition in strengthening of democracy.
Long live Oyo State and short live the stay of the Emperor of Agodi and his cohorts.

AJIMOBI GOOFY MOVES ON IBADAN ROYAL TRADITION. By Mogaji Adejumo
But what many do Not know is that there are many things wrong with this process as the very foundation of the Uniqueness of the Ibadan Traditional Chieftaincy Tradition has been Rocked and Destabilized!
When a Baálè is to be appointed, it is the Mogaji who will Nominate the person of his choice, with perhaps the impute of the elders in the village to so appoint a Baálè... Now a Baálè is to then be an Oba over the Mogaji that appointed him!?? Koseleri!
Se won fe ba Aye yi je ni!??
These so called Obas, Cannot even begin to appoint Chiefs of their own, and they are still meant to be Otun, Osi, Ashipa, Ekerin, Ekarun to the Olubadan and The Balogun!??
I saw with my eyes when we got to Ali-iwo compound, the inscription, "Alali-Iwo of Ali-Iwo", which brings to the fore, serious questions — The present Otun Olubadan is from Ali-Iwo compound, he is also the Mogaji Ali-Iwo and if he then becomes Olubadan, who then becomes Alali-Iwo, since only a son from Ali-iwo compound can be so called!
Are we now going to be having Royal families in Ibadan!?! Koseleri!
No Royalty exists among us...!
So, us Mogaji met with The Olubadan and we bared our minds, vowing to oppose this absurdity and aberration.... Therefore we have gone to court to challenge this process, which potentially is capable of disrupting the very peaceful Ibadan Chieftaincy Traditional practice, which has made succession and ascendancy to the Stool of Olubadan, a very Enviable and Laudable process...
The reception was great!
The people trooped out in large numbers to show profound solidarity with their King.. Ibadan erupted in Loud jubilation and it was Unprecedented!!!!

BROADCAST BY PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI, AUGUST 21, 2017.
BROADCAST BY PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI,
AUGUST 21, 2017.
My dear citizens,
I am very grateful to God and to all Nigerians for their prayers. I am pleased to be back on home soil among my brothers and sisters.
2. In the course of my stay in the United Kingdom, I have been kept in daily touch with events at home. Nigerians are robust and lively in discussing their affairs, but I was distressed to notice that some of the comments, especially in the social media have crossed our national red lines by daring to question our collective existence as a nation. This is a step too far.
3. In 2003 after I joined partisan politics, the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu came and stayed as my guest in my hometown Daura. Over two days we discussed in great depth till late into the night and analyzed the problems of Nigeria. We both came to the conclusion that the country must remain one and united.
4. Nigeria's unity is settled and not negotiable. We shall not allow irresponsible elements to start trouble and when things get bad they run away and saddle others with the responsibility of bringing back order, if necessary with their blood.
5. Every Nigerian has the right to live and pursue his business anywhere in Nigeria without let or hindrance.
6. I believe the very vast majority of Nigerians share this view.
7. This is not to deny that there are legitimate concerns. Every group has a grievance. But the beauty and attraction of a federation is that it allows different groups to air their grievances and work out a mode of co-existence.
8. The National Assembly and the National Council of State are the legitimate and appropriate bodies for national discourse.
9. The national consensus is that, it is better to live together than to live apart.
10. Furthermore, I am charging the Security Agencies not to let the successes achieved in the last 18 months be a sign to relax.
11. Terrorists and criminals must be fought and destroyed relentlessly so that the majority of us can live in peace and safety.
12. Therefore we are going to reinforce and reinvigorate the fight not only against;
· elements of Boko Haram which are attempting a new series of attacks on soft targets
· kidnappings, farmers versus herdsmen clashes,
· in addition to ethnic violence fuelled by political mischief makers. We shall tackle them all.
13. Finally, dear Nigerians, our collective interest now is to eschew petty differences and come together to face common challenges of;
· economic security,
· political evolution and integration
· as well as lasting peace among all Nigerians.
14. I remain resolutely committed to ensuring that these goals are achieved and maintained. I am so glad to be home.
15. Thank you and may God bless our dear Nation.
