THE RECORD-BREAKING RACE TO AGODI; 9 WEEKS TO GO.
As the dust settles on the Race to be the party flag-bearer in the Parties, the main Race to Agodi has begun to gather momentum, despite the Yuletide, each Candidate is moving and working hard to ensure victory for self and party. Anyhow, all Candidates are in a race for unprecedented victory and set to break a new record in Oyo State.AJIMOBI/APC: The incumbent Governor did his best to make the environment better but the threat of second term victory has made him revert to status quo, he's however set to break the jinx and be the first Governor to return to Agodi House. Many doubt his return, particularly not having any incumbent Senator in his fold and the masses feeling delineated through his leadership. Senator Abiola Ajimobi is the one others are in the race against but many people fear his return might be tougher than his first term. Best wishes to my Handsome Governor in his bid to break the Jinx.AKALA/LP: The immediate past Governor of Oyo state, the Candidate of Labour Party and former stalwart of PDP is very popular among the politicians and regarded as the mobile ATM. Otunba Alao Akala is no doubt a determinant in this race. Anyhow you look at it, Akala has a block vote to deliver in the race; whether for himself or anyone he supports. Oyo North Senatorial District is his stronghold and his ability to porstrate to have his way is a great plus. The main factor against his jinx-breaking race is the Ibadan factor. With joint ticket with Sarafadeen Alli of Ibadan, a grassroots mobilizer and High Chief of Ibadanland, the unexpected might happen. However, there are many questions on the mouth of the general electorates which his supporters might need to seek and proffer answers to. Personally, i doubt if Akala/LP can mobilize funds for this election now like the previous one; elections are even more expensive. Best wishes to Team-Akala/Alli.LADOJA/ACCORD: High Chief Rashidi Ladoja has been consistent in this jinx-breaking race and despite his age, he remains determined. No doubt, he's the oldest among the Aspirants and already a traditional leader in his own rights. The Accord Party didn't have crisis from governorship candidacy but there are a lot of crises generated by how candidates for other offices emerged. Many supporters have defected from the party and many are yet to be pacified, anyhow, the Ibadan High Chief has started his campaign tour already. There is a school of thought who believes some powerful people in the ruling party in Abuja are routing for him but that doesn't translate to vote in Oyo State. Though with the highest number of aspirants, very popular in Ibadan but the factors that made Accord party had a great performance in the last election are no longer the same. If Ladoja loses this governorship election again, it will affect his electoral influence negatively and reduce the respect people have for him. Anyway, some people query his leadership style that doesn't believe in the younger generation or ability to breed new leaders from his fold. Pa Ladoja, best wishes as you attempt to break this jinx for the third time in a roll.FOLARIN/PDP: Senator Teslim Folarin is not a politician to be underestimated; he combines the Adedibu style with the elitist approach from his foreign exposure. The Party has lost major gladiators and efforts at reconciliation seem unproductive. However, there is a court judgment that threatens the PDP from fielding candidates for the 2015 elections and this is an issue the Party must resolve in earnest. The suit filed by Mr Ademola Aremu Adelowo, an Aspirant for State House of Assembly from Ibadan North East Local Government might just hinder all those parading themselves as candidate from the party from contesting, if the threat of the INEC on the court judgment is anything to go by. As it is, PDP has a great huddle in Oyo State and the ranks of the membership are becoming apprehensive of the implications, some are already planning to defect in the new year, if this legal crises persist.MAKINDE/SDP: the Social Democratic Party in Oyo State has been described as the child of circumstance but the acceptance is spreading like wide-fire. SDP has become the rescue boat for aggrived aspirants from other parties, with expectations of fairness and level playing ground. With Candidacy issues resolved successfully, Engr Seyi Makinde, like David in the bible seems set to lead aggrieved revolutionaries to the Agodi House. With no Godfather, no internal crisis and Party with a clean slate; the whole state is anxious to see if Makinde and his team would be able to set the record by being the Governor through an unprecedented antecedents. His New Era politicking (OmiTitun, IgbaOtun concept) started yielding dividends inhow new people join the SDP to become politicians and more volunteers join the Omi Titun 2015 campaign organisation. Seyi Makinde, the Oil Magnate is a great optimist who sees himself in Agodi House already, he acknowledges the great task ahead( in securing the victory and unprecedented good governance in the state) but he's driving his team hard to get the result and rumors have it that it has not been business as usual since his Candidature on the platform of SDP was announced. Engr Seyi Makinde, the friend of the Masses and great Achiever; best wishes as you continue to redefine Oyo State politics for good and record a record-breaking pace in getting to Agodi House. In conclusion, the 2015 governorship election appears to be different from previous ones. The emergence of the candidates and the indices on ground as of now, 9 weeks to the election and last week of 2014, show that it is an open race that can go in anyone's favour. Some things are sure; the turnout of electorates for the elections would multiply, the voters are more enlightened and the personalities of the candidates would play a bigger role in the choices of the electorates than the party. Those clamouring for change are now trying to redefine change but one thing is sure; anyhow we look at it, Change is sure at Agodi House and Oyo State politics will never remain the same again after February 28, 2015. Sentiment will play its role too and we are set to have new era and positive change in Oyo State.LEADERSHIP QUOTE: The goal of an effective Leader is to recondition your team to be solution focused rather than problem focused.
